Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/27/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (1-15) hosted Elmira College (2-4) for a pair of interesting affairs as the teams braved high winds, rain, and hail to complete the doubleheader. In the opener, the Eagles scored five runs before a single from sophomore pitcher Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.), a ground out from designated player Abigail McCoy (Woodlyn, Pa.), and a walk to junior catcher Hannah McLaughlin (Stratford, N.J.) scored three Griffins in the bottom of the fourth inning; 5-3. The Eagles added a three-run home run in the seventh inning to win game one by an 8-3 final. They completed the sweep with a 12-5 game-two win; Elmira College won a high-scoring third inning 6-4 and held an 8-5 advantage before adding two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Baumeister (1-for-3, RBI) recorded the Griffins' only hit of game one. She also took the loss (1-5). In game two, she was 4-for-4 with a double and a run-batted-in (RBI). Sophomore shortstop Shylynn Cordero (Allentown, Pa.) (1-for-3, R, RBI), graduate right fielder Emily Shaheen (Pottstown, Pa.) (1-for-2, R, RBI), junior center fielder Emma Carney (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) (1-for-3, R, RBI), and sophomore third baseman Grace Scally (Philadelphia, Pa.) (1-for-4, RBI) also knocked in runs. Freshman left fielder Carly Maw (Bensalem, Pa.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Gwynedd Mercy University visits Rutgers University Camden on Tuesday, March 30, when they play the Raptors in a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
