Lancaster, Pa. – (10/3/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) made her second Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll appearance as she returned to the report after totaling five assists, four aces, and 68 digs during the Griffins' 2-2 week. In a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-22) win over conference rival Centenary University (NJ), Morris captained the Gwynedd Mercy University defense with a season-high 33 digs.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (5-11, 1-1) opened the week with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-11) victory over Bryn Athyn College (0-9) (Sept. 27). Junior middle hitter Ashley Brown (Lansdale, Pa.) finished with a team-high 12.5 points (11 kills, 1 solo block, 1 block assist), while Morris recorded with two aces and a team-high 11 digs.
 
A day later (Sept. 28), Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed Lancaster Bible College (5-8) to the Griffin Complex. The Griffins and Chargers battled through three tight sets before the visitors closed the match with a 25-9 fourth-set final; 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-9). Junior outside hitter Bria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) finished the match with a team-high 12 points (12 kills), while Morris paired her 18 digs with an assist and two aces.
 
The Griffins' AEC schedule opened on Saturday, October 1, with a tri-match at Marymount University. Gwynedd Mercy University split the league matches with the Saints (L, 0-3; 20-25, 14-25, 15-25) and Centenary University (NJ) (W, 3-1; 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-22). Purnell starred versus the Cyclones with 31.5 points (29 kills, 2 aces, 1 block assist), while Morris totaled four assists and 39 digs between the two matches. She recorded a season-high 33 digs in the win over Centenary University.
