Lancaster, Pa. – (10/27/2022) – With the completion of all league schedules, Commissioner Jessica Huntley has officially released the seeding for the upcoming 2022 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament. A 2-4 conference record and a head-to-head win versus Centenary University (N.J.) (W, 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-22) places Gwynedd Mercy University as the fifth seed in the playoff bracket, opposite #4 Marywood University. The other AEC Quarterfinal matchup features #6 Centenary University at #3 Neumann University. Both opening round games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. starts on Tuesday, November 1.
 
A perfect 6-0 league record awards reigning champions, Cabrini University the #1 seed in the AEC Championship field. Marymount University (5-1) holds the #2 seed and like the Cavaliers they will have a bye through the quarterfinal round. After Tuesday's competitions, the lowest remaining seed will visit Cabrini University and the second lowest seed will travel to Marymount University for November-3 semifinals. The AEC Championship is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 5 (5:00 p.m.) at the home of the highest remaining seed.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University scored their two AEC wins early in the season with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-22) victory over Centenary University on October 1 and a 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 29-27, 25-13) victory over Immaculata University on October 7. The pivotal match was the AEC finale on October 26, where Marywood University got the jump on the Griffins early with a 25-12 first-set victory to propelling them to enduring wins of 28-26 and 25-22 in the succeeding sets; 3-0 (25-12, 28-26, 25-22).
 
Offensively, Gwynedd Mercy University has been led by a frontcourt of juniors; outside hitters Bria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) and Julia Rabe (Virginia Beach, Va.), and middle hitter Ashley Brown (Lansdale, Pa.). Purnell has offered a team-high 260 kills, while Brown has totaled 209 kills on a team-best .264 (209K-55E-584TA) hitting percentage. Freshman setters Amanda Lopez (Houston, Texas) (385 assists, 36 aces) and Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.) (266, 31) have combined for 651 assists and 67 aces, while senior libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) has offered 405 digs and 25 aces.
