true Winchester, VA. -- Gwynedd Mercy University Field Hockey traveled south to Virginia to take on Shenandoah University in their first regular season contest of 2021.

The southern opposition proved to be formidable as the Griffins fell 0-9 to open the season. 

Freshman goalie Morgan Lawless recorded an impressive 50% save percentage with 9 saves on 18 shots.

Kelsey Jones and Cassidy Morrison led the Hornets with two goals apiece. 

The Griffins will be back in action this Wednesday as they travel to Galloway, NJ to take on Stockton University for a 7pm start.
