BRYN ATHYN, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy (2-2) left Bryn Athyn (1-2-1) as the victors today, taking a 2-1 win from the Lions in double overtime.
The scoring didn't start until 9 minutes into the second half, when
Nicolette Conway found the back of the net thanks to an assist by
Carissa Manero. Conway leads the Griffins in scoring with 4 goals on the season.
Lindsay Kinsky would respond for the Lions 14 minutes later to tie the match 1-1, where it would stay until the second overtime.
The sophomore forward,
Avamarie Backich, would break the tie by netting her first goal of her collegiate career at the 100 minute mark, with
Keyra Heinlein assisting.
Molly Flemming notched a win in the goal by racking up six saves.
The Griffins will be back in action against Cairn on Wednesday night in Gwynedd Valley.
