GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer picks up their first win as they defeat the University of Valley Forge 7-0.
Nicolette Conway recorded a hat-trick in the Griffins' big win on Thursday night.
Conway immediately impacted the match, scoring her first goal just 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the game. Needing only 6 shots (5 on goal), the senior from Philadelphia scored a second and third goal to put the Griffins up 3-0 25 minutes into the game. Conway's third goal was assisted by Avamarie Backich.
Carissa Manero joined the stat sheet lobbing a shot high into the left corner for a goal. Laura Pelczar finished a low shot towards the right post 4 minutes later. The Griffins led 5-0 at the end of the first half.
Keyra Heinlein picked up where Gwynedd left off scoring a minute and 38 seconds into the second half. Julia Wiskoski rounded out the scoring to mark the 7-0 victory.
The Griffins racked up 62 shots with 32 of them being on goal. 7 of them were corner opportunities. Molly Flemming recorded her first shutout of the season.
The women's soccer team looks for another win Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. when Gwynedd travels to Bryn Athyn, PA to take on Bryn Athyn.
