Baseball Earns Senior Day Split With Marywood

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Behind a career-high eight strikeouts from Brian Wildrick in game two, Gwynedd Mercy picked up a 16-4 win on Saturday to help split an Atlantic East Conference Doubleheader with Marywood on Senior Day. The Pacers won game one, 8-3.

The team and coaching staff honored Wildrick, Bobby Heck, Shaun Thomas, Will Brownlowe, Alex Ritter, and George Stewart along with their families with a framed jersey and artwork.

Wildrick pitched into the seventh with three earned runs on eight hits with just one walk to nab his first win this season. Brownlowe provided the offense, notching a career-high four RBI's while going 4-for-5. Billy Collins added three hits while Heck and T.J. Brasier each scored three times.

The team used a big nine-run fifth to distance themselves from the Pacers.

In the day's first game, Marywood built a 6-0 lead before the Griffins tried to claw their way back in it.

Collins and Brasier both doubled and scored for the home team. The Pacers touched up starter Frank Ebling for four runs in the third. Ebling would go five innings, yielding five earned runs on nine hits with four walks, and three K's in the decision.

Rob Bailey's RBI single and Heck's bases-loaded walk in the fifth got GMercyU on the board. Marywood got those two runs back in the top of the sixth. Collins would knock in Brasier with his ground-rule double in the bottom half.

The two teams meet tomorrow in Scranton to close out their weekend series. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
