SCRANTON, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Baseball team suffered a 17-7 defeat at Marywood in an Atlantic East Conference game on Sunday.
Shaun Thomas drove in a career-high three RBI's while going 3-for-5 including his first career home run.
Bobby Heck added two hits, while he and
Jake Martell also scored twice.
The Pacers had four players with three hits while Scott Becker chipped in four RBI's for the home team as Marywood used a big eighth inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits and an error and a walk.
Thomas went deep in the second inning, hitting a two-run shot to give GMercyU a 2-1 lead. After the Pacers got one back in the bottom half, Gwynedd took advantage of three errors to plate three runs to lead 5-2. They would add runs in the fourth and sixth before their big spot in the eighth.
Starter
Mitchell Bramsway went 4.2 innings, yielding just three runs on four hits with four K's and five walks.
Michael Aronica struck out nine in six innings for Marywood, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
Gwynedd Mercy will get back at it on Tuesday in a makeup AEC DH at Cabrini starting at noon.
