GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy closed out their regular season in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader with Wesley on Friday but it was the Wolverines taking both games winning 9-1 in the first and 13-5 in the second.
Game one
Wesley's Dori Loukopoulos threw a no-hitter, striking out five with three walks to limit the Griffin offense. The Wolverines scored early, plating four runs in the first.
GMercyU crossed their lone run in the fifth as
Shylynn Cordero worked a two-out walk and later score on a pair of errors from the visitors.
Starter
Ashley Focht suffered the loss, going four innings in the contest.
Game two
Gwynedd used a big second inning to take a lead, but Wesley later broke open a 5-5 game with an eight-run fifth.
In that second, the team put together three hits and took advantage of two walks and two errors for five unearned runs. The big hit came from
Madison Condurso who delivered a two-run single and chase out Wesley starter Shanyn Burch.
Mia Doto added an RBI single and
Emily Shaheen walked with the bases loaded as part of the frame
The Wolverines countered in the fourth, as they benefitted from a pair of Griffin errors to tie things up. In the bottom half, the visitors used the momentum of an inning-ending double play to plate eight runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth for a commanding lead.
Maddy McBride threw four innings as five of her nine runs allowed were unearned.
Loukopoulos was 2-for-2 with a walk and three RBI's for Wesley in game two.
