SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Marywood split an Atlantic East Doubleheader on Thursday. The Griffins picked up their first win on the year with a big 6-3 victory in game one while the Pacers rallied with a walk-off grand slam to take the second, 10-9.
Game one
GMercyU broke open a one-run game with three in the top of the seventh go on and take it, 6-3.
Jocelyn Baumeister was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI's.
Ashley Focht also drove in two runs while officially going 2-for-3.

Brianna Polly and gave the Griffins a quick 1-0 lead. The Pacers countered with two unearned runs in their first at-bat to jump ahead.
In the fourth, Baumeister led off with a double to center, and later come around to score on a groundout from Focht helping Gwynedd cross two in the frame for a 3-2 edge.
Starter
Maddy McBride fanned seven while scattering 10 hits and just one earned run to pick up the win. She was able to twirl out of a bases-loaded spot in the fourth, inducing a pop to end the inning and later in the sixth, putting the flames out with two on and two out.
The Griffins took advantage of a Marywood error in the seventh to score three runs in the seventh. Baumeister and Focht each had RBI singles to help give McBride some breathing room. The Pacers threatened in the bottom of the seventh, getting one run across and later putting runners on at second and third, but McBride was able to end it with a strikeout.
Game two
Gwynedd Mercy built any early lead thanks to a RBI single from
Grace Scally in the second. Later, a two-run triple from
Emma Carney and an RBI groundout from Focht in the third made it 4-0. Scally's sac fly in the fifth put the visitors ahead 5-0.
The Pacers put down a five-spot in the bottom half to knot things up. The Griffins countered the very next inning, plating four runs on four hits highlighted by a two-run double from Baumeister for a 9-5 score.
Marywood started off the seventh with four-straight singles to cut it to a three-run contest. Sam Baltrusaitis ended it with a grand slam to left to help salvage the split.
Scally finished with three hits, as did Carney and
Shylynn Cordero. Scally, Carney, Baumeister, and Focht all had two RBI's.
The team resumes action on Tuesday when they head to Wesley for an AEC twinbill.
