GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy hosted Marymount in their home opener on a rainy Wednesday, but it was the Saints prevailing with a 19-10 decision in an Atlantic East Conference clash.
Goalie
Reilly Owens recorded 12 saves in net as the Griffins used a second-half rally to try and climb back in the contest.
Victoria Mollitor paced the offense with four goals.
Jill Kane tallied twice while
Meleah Hoats,
Laura Pelczar,
Anna Bernicker, and
Damali Teagle also found the back of the net.
Marymount's Sarah Agrillo paced all scorers with six goals. Teammate Riley Love added six points on three goals and three assists. The duo combined for five of the team's 12 first-half goals to help the Saints to a 12-2 lead at the half.
The Griffins put together a pair of three-goal bursts in the second half to spark the offense. Pelczar's tally with 5:14 left made it a 16-9 contest. Marymount notched three-straight of their own over a three-minute stretch to help cement the score.
Mariel Russ recorded three saves for the Saints.
Defensively,
Seydel Acuna registered a career-high four caused turnovers while Teagle grabbed eight draws.
Gwynedd Mercy resumes action on Saturday, April 10th when they host Immaculata at 1 p.m.
