GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Men's Soccer Team returned to action for the first time in over a year, stepping on the pitch to battle Wesley, but it was the Wolverines escaping with a 2-1 overtime decision on a rainy Wednesday evening.
Wesley's Justin John-Langba knocked in a long free kick into the box in the 92nd minute to end the overtime contest.
Gwynedd took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when
Gavin Greenley gathered a long volley just outside the box and put one in the upper right corner for his fourth career goal.
The Wolverines answered just over eight minutes later when Lyod Coutilien picked up a loose ball in the box to tie things at 1-1.
GMercyU's defense withstood 12 second-half shots by Wesley and were able to send the game into extra time.
Goalie
Tyler Blair started and made three saves before exiting late in the first half with an injury.
John Wagner finished the stanza before Blair returned to start the second half. Blair finished with a total of five saves.
Gwynedd Mercy will close out its truncated season on Tuesday, April 6th when they welcome Cairn in a 7:45 start as they host Senior Night.
