BETHLEHEM, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy welcomed the start of the 2021 season on Saturday with a doubleheader at Moravian, but the Griffins came up short in both games. The Greyhounds took game one, 9-1, and the second, 17-1.
In game one,
Jocelyn Baumeister was 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run scored as GMercyU was limited to three hits.
Madison Condurso collected the other hit. Three Griffin errors led to four unearned runs for starter
Madeline McBride. McBride went four innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on nine hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Morvian's Briana DiCandeloro added a pair of RBI doubles while teammate Maddisen Bieder hit a solo home run in the fourth.
Gwynedd crossed their run in the fourth when Baumeieter scored from second on a wild throw to third off a fielder's choice in Condurso's at-bat.
Baumeister and Moria Ryan collected the two hits in game two as Moravian totaled 17 hits. Ryan's RBI infield single in the fifth plated pinch runner

The two teams will meet here on Tuesday for another pair of games in the Griffin's home opener. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
