Bryn Athyn, Pa. - (12/17/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (8-2) used an initial push from graduate forwards Donaven Spencer (Sicklerville, N.J.) and Justin Collins (Springfield, Pa.) to open with a 7-0 (18:44) run and a three point basket from graduate guard Matt O'Connor (Philadelphia, Pa.) to make the difference double-digits, 12-2 (16:23), before the Griffins' sharp shooting - 33-of-65 (.508) from the field and 11-of-26 (.423) from thee-point range - paid off in a 26-point triumph, 86-60, over Bryn Athyn College (1-8). Sophomore guard Aziz Parker (Westhampton, N.J.) was the top producer of the Griffins' double-digit quartet, hitting four three-point baskets (4-of-9, .444) en route to 24 points; it is his sixth game of 20 points or more and third consecutively. Parker's points came with five rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals. Spencer finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals. O'Connor recorded a season-high 18 points in addition to two rebounds and a steal. Collins did the same with 13 points in excess of seven rebounds, an assist, and a block.

After the Griffins' initial push, Bryn Athyn College crawled back within three points, 12-9 (14:53). Parker reenergized the Gwynedd Mercy University offense with a seven-point stretch that included a three-point basket (15-9, 14:05), a pair of free throws (17-9, 13:40), and a pull-up jumper that made the difference 10 points, 19-9, with 13:20 remaining in the first half. But he was not the only Griffin to reach double figures in the opening period as Spencer offered 11 points and O'Connor registered 10 points en route to Gwynedd Mercy University's 48-30 (0:01) halftime edge. Following intermission, the Griffin lead reached 20 points, 53-33 (18:48), in the opening two minutes and maxed out at 27 points, 84-57 (2:07) just seconds before the two-minute mark, before settling on a 86-60 (0:27) final spread.
