Arlington,Va. - (10/13/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (1-13-0, 0-4-0) fell in this evening's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) matchup at Marymount University (7-6-1, 2-0-0) by a 4-1 final.

The Griffins showed a lot of heart, giving the Saints a run for their money and showing a lot of grit in the process. Marymount University started off the scoring 19:38 into the matchup when sophomore forward Manny Gaunaurd (Pinecrest, Fla.) found the back of the net off a pass from junior midfielder Derek Rivera (Pembroke Pines, Fla.). Rivera would notch an unassisted point of his own six minutes later to give the Saints a 2-0 (26:09) advantage. Gywnedd Mercy University cut the deficit in half just 14 minutes after that with sophomore forward Kyle Burke (Abington, Pa.) hitting cotton on an  unassisted goal at 40:40; 2-1.
 
In the second half, junior goalkeeper John Wagner (Phoenixville, Pa.) kept Marymount University in check with seven of his 11 saves keeping the contest close. Unfortunately, the Saints scored twice more, advancing their  position to 3-1 at the 83-minute mark (83:00) and securing the win with an insurance tally at 85:30; 4-1.
