GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Athletic Department is pleased to announce Sara Gray as its 2019-20 Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The announcement usually takes place at the department's annual Senior Banquet but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the campus closure, the unveiling of the award was made via Zoom with Gray and members of the athletic department earlier in the day.

Gray, a Nursing major who currently owns a 3.6 GPA, is a member of the Griffin Track & Field Team where she competes in high jump.

In the classroom, Gray was inducted during the spring of 2019 into the Psi Chi National Psychology Honors Society for her Psychology minor. Qualifications include a major or minor in Psychology, and a GPA that places the student in the top 35% of the class with at least a 3.0 GPA. In spring of 2020, she will be inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society. To be eligible, a member must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and rank in the upper 35% of the graduating class. She is a three-time Dean's List member and soon to be fourth once grades are finalized.

Gray is also a two-time member of the All-American Academic Team for Winter Track in 2017 and Outdoor Track in 2016. Eligibility requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.30, qualification into an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship, and/or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event.

As a high jumper, she was a two-time qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships. Her first trip to nationals was in May during the 2016 Outdoor Season in Waverly, Iowa. Last season, she qualified in the 2019 Indoor Season held in March up in Boston, Massachusetts.

She was the first Atlantic East Conference Champion in High Jump in the outdoor season of 2019. Months earlier, she was an ECAC Indoor Track and field Champion as well. She is two-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Honoree and CSAC Weekly Honors.

Gray currently holds the school record at Gwynedd Mercy University for Indoor Women's Track and Field with a jump of 1.68 meters and Outdoor Women's Track and Field with a jump of 1.62 meters.
