LEESBURG, FL. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell to the hands of Trine University, 18-9, on Monday at Pat Thomas Stadium as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Justin Blakey was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.
Nate Campbell added a pinch-hit three-run home run in the ninth.
The Thunder led 1-0 into the fifth before crossing nine runs in the inning to get out to a sizable advantage.
Gwynedd added five runs in the eighth, keyed by a two-run single from
Dave Anderson and later Campbell's homer in the ninth as part of a four-run frame.
The Griffins are off until Wednesday when they continue play in Florida against Rose-Hulman in a 1:15 first pitch.
