GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell to Cabrini, 107-88, in an Atlantic East Conference contest on Saturday, snapping the Griffin's five-game winning streak.
Elise Sylvester totaled 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals for the home team.
Denise Sacco hit four of the team's 10 threes to help her finish with 18 points while
Sydney Thompson added 13.
For the Cavaliers, Ashley Tutzauer led all scorers with 31 points as five players finished in double figures.
The Griffins battled back from a 15-point first quarter deficit and later used a big 16-5 run to close out the second to lead by four at the half (51-47). In that second quarter,
Chyanne Fine netted five points in a row during that run to finally five GMercyU its first lead since early in the contest.
Gwynedd built their lead up to as much as eight points on four occasions, the last coming off a layup from Thompson with 38 ticks in the frame. Cabrini cut to five points, 81-76, at the end of three quarters.
In the fourth, the Griffins struggled from the field, while the Cavaliers shot over 54% in the stanza and outscored Gwynedd, 31-7, over the final 10 minutes. A three from Sacco cut the hole to eight (92-84) with 6:38 to go, but the team could not pull any closer.
The team is back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Arlington, Virginia to take on Marymount in AEC action starting at 6 p.m.
