Hot Shooting Propels Men's Hoops Past Pacers

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – The Griffins tied a season-high shooting 51% from the floor and Rich Dunham netted 20 of his game-high 29 points in the second half in Wednesday's 93-74 win over Marywood in an Atlantic East Conference contest at The Griffin Complex.

GMercyU went 34-of-66 as a team, hitting 10 three-pointers for the third game in a row. Donaven Spencer put together 10 points, six boards, and a personal-best three blocks. Manny Clark (12 points) and Jaye'Lyn Peebles (10 points) also went for double figures.

Adam Boussatta led the visitors with 28 points. Jack DeGroot grabbed eight rebounds and scored 11 points.

The two teams swapped leads seven times in the first half before a big 13-0 run just past the halfway mark would put the Griffins on top for good. A three from the Pacers' Tom DeFilippo gave them a 24-23 lead with nine minutes and chance in the stanza. The Griffin defense did not yield a Pacer field goal for over five minutes in that span to help up their lead to double digits. Gwynedd led 47-35 at the break.

In the second half, the Griffins every scoring stretch was met with a similar one from the Pacers, but were still able to hold a double-figure lead. Marywood's 11-0 run got them to 68-60 with 7:33 to play before back-to-back triples from Dunham proved to be the knockout blow.

The team made the most of the Pacers' 15 turnovers, turning them into 24 points.

Prior to the game, the team honored senior Somah Slewion for scoring his 1,000 collegiate point in last Wednesday's contest at Wesley.

Gwynedd Mercy is back at it on Saturday when they host Cabrini starting at 3 p.m.
