WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Gwynedd Mercy played twice on Saturday at the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet. In Saturday's first game, it was Muhlenberg defeating the Griffins, 6-4. However, Gwynedd took down the host Bison by the score of 40-7 where many team and individual records were broken.
Against the Mules, the Griffins plated two runs in their first at-bat, getting a
Will Brownlowe RBI single and later bases-loaded walk from
Rob Henry.
Muhlenberg score two runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 6-2 lead.
In the seventh, GMercyU put runners on second and third with two outs, but a comebacker to the mound was snared by Muhlenberg pitcher Donovan Brady.
Gwynedd got a run back in the eighth on a solo homer from
T.J. Brasier. They would threaten again in the ninth as well. After Brownlowe knocked in his second RBI of the game, the Griffins put two on with two outs, but a fly out to center ended it.
Brownlowe had two of the team's eight hits.
