IMMACULATA, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Basketball team continued their winning ways with a 100-85 victory at Immaculata University on Saturday in Atlantic East Conference action.
 
Thirteen different Griffins reached the scoring column with four producing double digits. Sydney Thompson led the visitors with a game high 20 points and seven rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and connecting on four three pointers. Haley Crossley added 15 while fellow first year player Elise Sylvester added 14. Senior Chyanne Fine rounded out the scoring posting her third double-double of the season (11 points and 10 rebounds).
 
GMercyU used a 6-0 run to end the first quarter up, 28-16, lead at the end of the first ten minutes of action. However, Immaculata would respond in the second stanza, opening the period on a 9-0 spurt to get within three, but the Griffins did not yield the lead and hold a 45-43 edge at halftime.
 
Immaculata would take their only lead of the game (46-45) with just over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Gwynedd responded with a game-changing 12-5 run capped by a Carley Huggard lay-up to lead 57-51 with 6:43 remaining. The Griffins would go on to score 32 points in the quarter on connecting on eleven field goals with five coming from beyond the arc to lead 77-70 heading in the final stanza.
 
A Sylvester jumper would stretch the lead to ten (83-73) with just under six minutes remaining. Kelly Owens added to the lead, connecting on a triple with 3:21 remaining to lead 93-81. Sylvester would help Gwynedd hit the century mark for the fourth time this season with a pair of free throws in the closing moments. 
 
For the game the Griffins shot 32.4%, hitting on 12 team three pointers. The Mighty Macs shot 47.5% from the field but were held to just five three pointers and made 43 turnovers which turned into 37 Griffin points.
 
Jordan Rook led Immaculata with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
