SCRANTON, PA. -- A total of seven players finished in double digits as Gwynedd Mercy romped past Marywood, 108-70, to nab an Atlantic East Conference victory in their AEC opener on Saturday.
The Griffins led 26-11 after the first quarter and by 24 points at the half en route to their fourth-straight win.
Sydney Thompson paced GMercyU with 16 points with teammate
Chyanne Fine totaling a double-double (15 points/10 rebounds).
Tamia Wessels finished with 13,
Kelly Owens with 11, and
Tolu Omole,
Denise Sacco, and
Elise Sylvester each having 10 in the victory. Gwynedd held the Pacers to 27% shooting which was the lowest allowed this season.
Aryah Aungst registered 18 points and 19 boards for Marywood.
Thompson's three put the wraps on a scoring run to lead 26-7 after the opening tip. Now up heading into the third, the score swelled to 84-49 after three as the team shot 48% after halftime.
The team is back in action on Wednesday as they continue AEC play at Cabrini.
