DALLAS, PA. – Erika Cimino and Lauren Jani each scored twice to help Gwynedd Mercy to a season-opening 7-0 victory over Allegheny on Friday afternoon. The game was played at Misericordia University.

Tori Sherwood, Alyssa Tomsic, and Caitlyn Thornton as the Griffins rattled off 27 shots and attempted 19 penalty corners to down the Gators.

For Cimino and Jani, the two goals apiece were personal bests. Jani added an assist on Cimino's second tally to give the sophomore a career-high five points.

Junior goalie Abi Kennedy recorded her sixth career shutout in the win.

Michaela Swenk assisted on the first goal of the day, a tally from Tomsic in the first quarter. Thornton made it 2-0 just under three minutes later on a helper from Allison Campbell. Jani potted the first of her two in the second to give GMercyU a 3-0 advantage at the half.

The Griffins continue play tomorrow when they take on Bridgewater College beginning at 3 p.m.
