Men's Lacrosse Wraps Up Playoff Bye In Season Finale

Griffins will be #2 seed in upcoming Atlantic East Tournament and earn a first-round bye

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- With their 17-1 victory over Wesley in the regular season finale on Wednesday, Gwynedd Mercy was able to nail down the #2 playoff seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Conference Tournament and earn a first-round bye.

The Griffins will host a semifinal round game here on Wednesday, May 1st with a time an opponent to be determined.

For the game, Gwynedd Mercy scored a season high five times on the man up. Defensively, they held the Wolverines to seven shots on the day and were a perfect 12-for-12 on clears.

Joey Giordano was on fire in the X, winning 18-of-19 faceoffs to tie a career high. He also scooped up 12 groundballs as well.

Ryan Simpson scored a game-high five goals with Joseph Pandolfi and Jacob Dzierzgowski adding four each. Jordan Dzierzgowski and Kohler Setley each netted a pair. For Pandolfi, he finished with a career-high five points while Jordan Dzierzgowski's three assists were a personal best.

Leading 4-0 after the first quarter, GMercyU netted four more in the second, three of which came on the man-up to build an 8-1 lead at the half.

Philip Weis and Zach Groses each collected three groundballs. Weis and Shawn Ryan totaled four of the team's nine caused turnovers on the day.

Kyle Mackall-Lloyd scored for the Wolverines, who also got 13 saves from goalie Dylan Sicca.

Gwynedd Mercy is the #2 seed, with Cabrini as the top seed. The sixth-seeded Wolverines will play at #3 Marymount and the #5 Marywood will travel to #4 Neumann in first-round action this Saturday.
