DOVER, DE. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Wesley dueled to a split in an Atlantic East Doubleheader on Tuesday. The Griffins scored a run in the top of the seventh to win game one, 1-0. In the nightcap, it was the Wolverines using a big inning to go on to win, 12-4.

Game one
Rebecca Christoffers doubled in Brianna Polly in the seventh for the game's only run while pitcher Alexis Gartner tossed a complete-game shutout. Polly reached on a throwing error at short and move up to second where she came home when Christoffers hit one in the gap in left.

Tori Sherwood had two of the team's four hits while Amanda Clark walked twice. Gartner helped leave seven Wolverines on base including two in the final inning, working out of a jam to get a grounder to end it.

Game two
The Griffins scored three times in their first at-bat and held a 4-1 lead, but Wesley answered with seven runs in the third to take the lead for good to help salvage the split.

Alyssa Cowan was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Sherwood drove in a run and scored twice while Christoffers and Lauren Waller had a hit and scored.

The Wolverines scored twice in the fourth and two more in the fifth to enact the run rule.

Gwynedd Mercy gets right back at it tomorrow with a conference two-fer at Cabrini.
