DOYLESTOWN, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy bounced back in game two to earn a non-conference doubleheader split at Delaware Valley on Thursday. The Griffins posted a 12-4 win in the second game after falling in the first, 11-1.
Game one
Alyssa Cowan had two of the team's three hits as the Aggies' Jamie Stefani struck out five Griffins. Del Val scored runs in the first three innings to take a double-digit lead. The game was called after the top of the fifth.
Cowan singled home
Emily Shaheen in the fourth.
Rebecca Christoffers walked twice while starter
Alexis Gartner suffered the loss.
Game two
Every player in the lineup reached base and scored as GMercyU broke it open with a 10-run third inning.
Christoffers sparked the offense going 2-for-4 including a three-run home run in that third inning.
Lauren Waller was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored while
Amanda Clark and
Kaylee Craig each knocked in a pair of runs. The team took advantage of three Del Val errors to score 10 unearned runs. Game two was called after the bottom of the fifth.
Brianna Polly picked up the win, yielding just four runs on five hits.
The team travels to Wesley on Saturday in an Atlantic East Conference twinbill.
