SWEET BRIAR, VA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Lacrosse team defeated Sweet Briar College 16-2 in Virginia on Friday afternoon. The game halted with 8:50 left in the second half as snow was accumulating.
Anna Grace Bernicker and
Meleah Hoats each scored three goals for the Griffins.
Victoria Braeunle won seven draw controls, caused four turnovers and picked up three ground-balls while scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist.
Samantha Brown recorded three caused turnovers and ground-balls adding a goal as well. A total of nine different Griffins scored on the day.
Julia Smith recorded three saves in goal for the win. Sweet Briar's Sammy Holten made 16.
GMercyU scored the game's first 12 goals with the first from Hoats three minutes into the game and the final tally of the half from Braeunle coming with just over five minutes to go.
