Keen collects 100th career hit in the second game

WINTER HAVEN, FL. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Baseball team closed out their spring trip on Thursday with a pair of wins as the Griffins defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 13-3, in eight innings in the opener followed by an 8-3 victory over Wartburg College in the nightcap for their fourth win in a row.

Offensively, Nick Mulvey and Ryan Keen each recorded three hits. Mulvey also scored three times and knocked in a pair of RBIs while Evan Miller added a pair of RBIs and a pair of hits.

A Sachael Sciarretta double would plate the Griffins' first run scoring Tommy Nardini in the second inning. Sciarretta would later score along with Brandon Gray to take a 3-2 lead. A Miller sac fly to score Keen would help GMercyU retake the lead in the third, 4-3.

Gwynedd would break the game open in the fourth scoring three more runs for a 7-3 lead. The Griffins would capitalize on an error to score a pair of runs followed by a Keen RBI single.

A five run eighth inning would put GMercyU ahead 13-3. Nick Mulvey would start the inning with an RBI single. Nardini then scored a run with an hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Miller followed with a run-scoring single. RBI's from Justin Curtin and Sciarretta would close out the frame.
