BETHLEHEM, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Moravian on Thursday. The Greyhounds took the first game, 18-4, and the second, 17-1.
Game one
Moravian jumped out early, plating six runs in their first at bat. The Griffins scored twice in the third, coming on an
Emma Clark groundout and a
Tori Sherwood RBI single to get on the board.
Rebecca Christoffers knocked in
Alex Kinal in the fourth, and later scored on a double from
Lauren Waller to highlight the frame.
For the game, Sherwood, Christoffers, and Waller each had two hits and an RBI. Clark suffered the loss.
The Greyhounds' Lauren Goetz was 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs and driving in six runs.
Game two
The Griffins were limited to one hit in the game, coming from Waller in the first on a solo home run. It was her first longball of the season and sixth in her career.
Brooke Wehr paced Moravian, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs.
GMercyU gets right back at it on Saturday as they now will play at Widener in a two-fer starting at 2 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Gwynedd Valley, but has been moved to Chester.
