IMMACULATA, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's basketball team fell on the road at Immaculata University 64-54, on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.

Susan Bossler led the Griffins with 15 points and seven rebounds, both team highs.

GMercyU trailed early after the first quarter 14-8, but the team responded with a 21-point second quarter. The Griffins would respond in that frame, taking a 25-23 lead thanks to a Denise Sacco three pointer with just over two minutes remaining until the half. However, Immaculata answered and took a 32-29 lead into the break.

Gwynedd would outscore the Mighty Macs in the third stanza and tied things up on a triple from Sydney Thompson (43-43) with just over two minutes in the stanza. GMercyU still found themselves trailing by a basket, 50-48, entering the fourth.

After two Marisa Sullivan free throws to tie the game at 50-50 at the start the final quarter, Immaculata would answer again responding with an 11-0 over a four minute stretch connecting on three triples in that span, two from Amber Ballinger.

A Shannon Carroll bucket and Monet McGorda free throw would cut the Mighty Macs lead down to eight (61-53) with 3:04 showing on the clock, but the Griffins would not be able to get any closer falling 64-54.

Ballinger led Immaculata with a game-high 22 points. Theresa Kearney added 13 points, 10 boards, and five assists.

Thompson totaled five points, two blocks, two assists, and two rebounds.

The Griffins will return back to action on Saturday traveling to Wesley College at 1 p.m. With a win, they can clinch an Atlantic East playoff berth.
