UNION, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy was on the wrong end of an 8-0 decision to Brockport on Sunday. The game was played at Kean University.
It was a pitcher's duel in the first five innings before the Golden Eagles got on the board in the bottom half. Gwynedd starter
R.J. Boyle threw five innings of hitless baseball, getting three strikeouts and a pair of double plays. The Golden Eagles' Trevor McCarthy fanned eight over seven innings, yielding three hits.
Brockport got their first hit in the sixth, taking a 1-0 lead on a Nicholas Pastore RBI single. They would plate two more runs for a 3-0 edge and force Boyle out of the game. The Golden Eagles plated three runs (two unearned) in the seventh and a pair in the eighth.
Justin Curtin walked twice and stole a base while
Jason Mulvey,
Dave Tatoian,
Nick Mulvey, and
Ryan Keen each collected a hit for the Griffins.
The team is off until next Tuesday, February 26th when they play at Johns Hopkins.
