SALISBURY, MD. -- Gwynedd Mercy kicked off their 2019 season on Sunday at Salisbury, but the Griffins fell to the 24th-ranked Sea Gulls, 7-2.
Jason Mulvey went 2-for-4 with an RBI while
Bobby Heck added a solo home run.
After Salisbury plated a run in the fourth, GMercyU scored a run in the sixth when Mulvey knocked in
Justin Curtin to tie it at 1-1.
The Sea Gulls however countered in the bottom half after a solo homer and a two-run double gave them a 4-1 edge heading into seventh. Gwynedd would load the bases in both the sixth and the seventh but could not add to their total.
Salisbury tacked on insurance runs in the home half of the seventh on three hits and two walks.
Matt Padeway was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI's and a triple for SU.
Starter
R.J. Boyle went four innings where he allowed just one run on two hits, with a pair of walks and a strikeout.
The Griffins will play two games next weekend up at Kean University. On Saturday, they'll square off with the host Cougars before taking on Brockport on Sunday also at Kean.
