WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gwynedd Mercy connected on a season-high 14 three-pointers in a 90-76 non-conference victory at Gallaudet Monday evening.
Jeff Seigafuse finished with a game-high 23 points as the senior hit five triples while adding six rebounds, five assists, five steals, and three blocks. The assists, steals, and blocks were all a personal best.
Jalen Henry drained four to end up with a career-high 12 points.
Jordan Perkins notched his first career double-double as the junior put up 13 points and 10 rebounds, both career bests.
Back-to-back trifectas from Henry in the first half helped ignite a 22-6 run capped by a fast-break bucket off a steal from Seigafuse for a 42-23 lead. The team shot over 56% in the first 20 minutes helping the Griffins to a 56-36 lead at the half.
The Bison opened the second half on 10-0 run and stayed within striking distance throughout, later pulling within nine on two occasions, the latter coming with 2:46 left. Seigafuse hit the third three of the half with just over a minute to help ice it.
Corey Smith netted 18 off the bench for Gallaudet while Preston Kelly and Noah Valencia each added 16.
Gwynedd won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Bison, 52-37. Perkins had 10 boards with
Donaven Spencer grabbing eight.
The team is back at it this weekend at the York College (N.Y.) Invitational. On Friday, GMercyU takes on Purchase. The following day, Gwynedd will battle Potsdam or the host Cardinals.
