DOVER, DE. -- In their Atlantic East Conference opener, the Gwynedd Mercy Field Hockey Team fell on a late goal from Wesley as the Wolverines handed the Griffins a 1-0 defeat Wednesday evening.

Wesley goalie Lauren Berry frustrated the Griffins, making three saves along with five defensive saves as GMercyU produced eight shots on the night.

With just under a minute in the fourth quarter, the Wolverines' Hanna Giaccone netted the eventual game winner.

Abi Kennedy turned in five saves for Gwynedd, as the game was a rematch of last season's conference championship.

Gwynedd Mercy will look to snap their six-game skid on Saturday when they host Immaculata in an AEC contest starting at 3 p.m.
