GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Marymount scored twice early in the second half to go on and hand Gwynedd Mercy a tough 2-1 defeat in an Atlantic East Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute thanks to a goal from Amanda Credidio. The sophomore found a bouncing ball in the box off a corner kick where she buried her team-leading fifth goal on the year.

It stood that way until the second half, where the Saints tied things up on their first shot of the stanza. Laney Placido made it 1-1 as her free kick just outside the box got past Griffin keeper Emily McCullough.

Just over five minutes later, Marymount's Karen Reyes took a through pass into the box where she made it 2-1.

Jillian Potcher looked to tie things up again, but her blast from the top of the box in the 59th minute clanged off the crossbar.

McCullough finished the day with three saves as did Marymount's Maia Pappadakis.

The Griffins continue AEC action on Wednesday when they head to Scranton to face off with Marywood.
