READING, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Alvernia each scored in the first half then battled the rest of the way to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon. Goalie Kailey Hopkins had a stand-out performance, tying a career high with 13 saves. The tie extends their unbeaten streak to five games.

Hopkins and the defense plodded through 27 Alvernia shots and 12 corner kicks on the day, but stood tall to allow just one goal.

After the Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, the Griffins tied it with less than five minutes before the half.

The Griffins (3-4-3) begin play in the Atlantic East Conference on Wednesday, when they host Marywood in a 6 p.m. start.
