GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A late first-half goal was the difference in a 1-0 defeat to Marywood on Wednesday night as the Griffins and Pacers opened up Atlantic East Conference play.
With less than thirty seconds left in the first half, Marywood's Julie Youngman scored off a rebound to account for the game's only score.Â
The Griffins had a great chance to tie things up with 15 minutes left in the game. A
Tori Goebig cross to
Amanda Credidio at the top of the box turned into a shot that went just wide of the goal. Youngman almost got on the board again with a little over three minutes in the game, but goalie
Kailey Hopkins came out for a bold save.Â
Marywood outshot Gwynedd, 10-6, and held a 7-2 corner kick edge. Hopkins ended the game with five saves. Pacer goalie Aly Moyer had three.
The Griffins return to action as they travel to Marymount for Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.Â
