GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy picked up their third win in a row as they defeated Bryn Mawr, 1-0, on a rainy Tuesday.
The first and only goal of the game came with a minute and a half left in the first half as
Erin Reitmeyer converted on a penalty kick. Goalie
Kailey Hopkins recorded three saves for her third shutout on the season for GMercyU (3-4-2).
The first half saw both teams combine for seven shots. In the second, there was only one shot for the first 25 minutes as the pace slowed down.
Lauren Melino worked to get a good look with 20 minutes left in the game, but Bryn Mawr keeper Leah Baer came up with her first save of the game. With seven minutes left, the Owls had their best chance, but Hopkins came way out of the net to snuff out the attempt.Â
Baer finished the game with five saves for the Owls (1-6-2)
The Griffins return back to action this Saturday at Alvernia at 5 p.m.
