GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Behind a goal and assist from
Victoria Braeunle, the Griffin Women's Soccer Team earned their second win in a row after defeating Lycoming, 2-1.
The first score of the day came with about 10 minutes left in the first half. Braeunle worked a give-and-go with
Amanda Credidio to break in towards the goal. She gave it back to Credidio in the box where she finished putting GMercyU up 1-0.
The second goal came in the 65th minute as Braeunle used her speed to outrun two Lycoming defenders after a long goal kick from
Kailey Hopkins to net her team-leading third tally on the season. With less than 12 minutes in the contest, the Warriors (1-8) cut into lead when Megan Oyler took a through pass from Bailey Gilmore just outside the top of the box where she beat Hopkins to make things interesting.
The defense did not yield a shot the rest of the way to help ice the win. Hopkins ended the day with one save, as did Lycoming's Bronwen Lewis.
The Griffins (2-4-2) will be back in action this Tuesday against Bryn Mawr.
