GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Widener scored twice in each half to go on and defeat Gwynedd Mercy, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Pride's Nick Brison scored in the seventh minute to open the scoring. The Griffins looked to counter, but a late score in the half from Jude Morgan put GMercyU in a two-goal deficit.

Widener (4-1-1) netted two goals less than four minutes apart in the second to account for the scoring.

Starting goalie Kace Peters recorded a save before leaving the game with an injury early in the second. Rookie Joe Duffy came in made seven stops. John Warwick notched one save as he played into the 75th minute.

The Griffins (0-5) resume action on Monday when they welcome Cairn here starting at 6 p.m.
