CHESTER, PA. --
Michaela Swenk scored in the latter parts of the second half to help Gwynedd Mercy to a 1-0 road victory at Widener Tuesday night.
The sophomore netted her first career game winner with 16:38 remaining on a penalty corner, breaking a scoreless contest.
Kathryn Lehman picked up the assist while goalie
Abi Kennedy made four saves, two in each half, to help GMercyU improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Griffins outshot the Pride, 9-6, in the first half but neither team could find the back of the cage. Widener pressed in the second, thanks to 10 penalty corners, but Kennedy and the Griffin defense were up to the task, helping the team to its second clean sheet on the year.
Sabrina Roberto recorded three stops for the Pride (2-2).
Gwynedd Mercy heads up to New York to square off with SUNY-Oneonta this Saturday in a 2 p.m. start. This is the first meeting between the schools.
