Win Streak Hits Eight With Two Wins At Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy won both games of a CSAC twinbill on Sunday at Clarks Summit, taking game one, 11-2, and the second, 13-5.

Game one
Jess Behr and Erin Hallahan each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Behr added a two-run triple and a double while Hallahan stole a base.

The Griffins totaled just eight hits but took full advantage of seven Defender errors. Two of those mistakes came in the second as part of a six-run frame for GMercyU.

In the third, Ciara Diehl doubled in Alex Kinal and then came home on an error at first to make it 8-0. After a run in the fourth, Clarks Summit got on the board in the bottom half on an RBI double from Molly Ayala. The

Griffins used RBI singles from Becki Christoffers and Behr in the sixth to up the score to 11-1. The game would end after the fifth due to the run rule.

Melissa Hess tossed three-plus innings of scoreless action to pick up the win.

Game two
Despite scoring three runs in the first, the Griffins fell behind after the Defenders' first at-bat as Clarks Summit scored five runs on just two hits and three errors.

Alex Kinal doubled to lead off the second and come around to score on an error to cut the deficit to one.

GMercyU took the lead for good in the third when Kelsey Czibik knocked in two with the bases loaded on a single to right. Emma Clark would groundout to second, but not before Kinal came home to help Gwynedd go up 7-5.

An RBI single from Tori Sherwood in the fourth and a sac fly from Christoffers in the fifth padded the lead.

Behr led off the sixth with a solo home run, but it wasn't the only longball in the inning. With runners at second and third and two outs, Lauren Waller hit a three-run pinch-hit home run.

Sherwood, Czibik, and Behr had two hits apiece in the win.
