Softball Sizzles In DH Sweep

ROSEMONT, PA. -- The Griffins made it nine wins in a row with their CSAC sweep at Rosemont on Tuesday. Gwynedd took game one, 11-1, and the nightcap, 13-0. Amanda Clark went 5-for-8 with eight RBI's on the day.

Game one
Clark put together a 3-for-4 effort at the plate with three RBI's and a run scored. Alex Kinal added two hits and scored twice and Lauren Waller drove in a pair of runs. The team totaled 12 hits.

Starting pitcher Emma Clark allowed just one run on four hits while walking two and striking out one.

A pair of two-run singles from Clark and Ciara Diehl helped GMercyU to a five-spot in the first. Jess Behr tripled home Becki Christoffers before coming home on Clark's base hit for a 8-0 lead in the second.

In the bottom of the fifth with Gwynedd leading by ten runs, the Ravens put runners on the corners. A single to right scored a run but Jess Behr ended the game with a strike to home to get the trailing runner for the final out.

Game two
Starter Melissa Hess threw four innings of perfection before a lead-off triple in the fifth broke up the no hitter.

Clark kept the hot bat, this time driving in a career-high five while going 2-for-4. Behr chipped in a pair of RBI's and scored twice.

In the second, the Griffins scored six runs, keyed by Clark and Behr who each had two-run singles.Clark's bases-loaded clearing double in the fifth  was part of a five-run frame.

The team is off until Friday when they travel to face Notre Dame of Maryland in conference action.
