GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Baseball team participated in the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational over spring break, enjoying some nicer weather here at home.

To open the trip on Saturday Concordia (MN) took both games of the doubleheader. Josh Lopez and Shaughn Wright recorded a pair of hits in the opener, while Ryan Keen added a pair of hits in the nightcap.

R.J. Boyle earned his first win of the year working six innings in the opening game of a twin bill against Central on Monday. Boyle struck-out three while Dave Tatoian earned the save. Tatoian, Keen and Wright each recorded a pair of hits with Keen driving in three runs in the 6-5 victory.
In the nightcap, Justin Curtin and Sachael Sciarretta each drove in a pair of runs but the Griffins were unable to rally in their last at-bats, falling 7-6.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute 14, Gwynedd Mercy 10 (Box Score)

On Tuesday WPI got the best of the Griffins 14-10, as the two teams combined for 24 runs and 27 hits. Keen, who kept a hot bat, and Tommy Nardini each recorded a pair of hits while Lopez and Justin Forktus drove in a pair of runs.

Gwynedd Mercy 17, Saint Vincent 7 (Box Score)

The Griffins closed out the week on Wednesday with a big 17-7 victory over Saint Vincent. Justin Curtin went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI's. GMercyU scored multiple runs in five innings highlighted by a Josh Lopez three run home-run. Jeff Seigafuse picked up the win in relief striking out three. Freshman Shane McGrody made his first collegiate start, as the rookie struck out four. Bobby Heck also drove in three runs while scoring a pair.
