GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Lycoming spoiled Gwynedd Mercy's home opener in an 8-1 decision Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Dzierzgowski netted the lone Griffin goal in the first quarter, as the teams traded scores early in the contest. The Warriors scored four-straight in the opening frame to lead 5-1.
Goalie
Chris Burns and the Griffin defense yielded just two early goals in the second, keeping GMercyU in the contest and no goals in the third quarter. Burns finished the day with 10 stops.
The offense had trouble with Lycoming goalie Michael Tenant, who made 12 saves, including seven in the second half. Teammate Andrew Ream scored four times for the Warriors (2-0) with Drew Collins adding two goals.
Joey Giordano was 6-for-8 on faceoffs while
Sean Miller totaled four caused turnovers and four grounballs, both career highs.
Gwynedd Mercy (1-1) will get back at it on Wednesday when they take on Bryn Athyn here at 4 p.m.
