CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Basketball team scored a 76-51 road victory at Rutgers-Camden on Monday evening.
Three Griffins reached double figures with
Rich Dunham leading the way with a team-high 22 points while connecting on a career-best four three pointers.
Courtney Cubbage kicked in 16 points and
Jeff Seigafuse added 10 respectively to round out the scoring leaders.
Trailing early in the first half, Seigafuse sparked a 21-0 run over six minutes of action. His three pointer midway through the spurt put the Griffins up, 15-6. Cubbage closed out the run scoring eight points push the lead to 26-6 with just over eleven minutes remaining in the half.
The Griffins held Rutgers to just seven first-half field goals, taking a 34-14 lead into the halftime break.
Dunham would spark the second half offense with three triples to extend the lead to 47-24 in the opening moments. Later, a
Somah Slewion layup bookended a six-point spurt to push the lead back to twenty (55-35) with just over eight minutes to play.
Rookie
Nathan Dobb would close out the scoring for the Griffins with five points in the closing minutes to give the Griffins the 76-51 victory.
Gwynedd out-rebounded Camden, 46-35, with Dunham pulling down a team-high eight.
Terrance Harris led Rutgers with a team high 15 points.
The Griffins return back to action on Saturday against Susquehanna University at 3 p.m. in the First National Community Bank/Monarch Classic hosted by King's College.
