GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Field Hockey Team has been selected for the NCAA Division III Tournament as the pairings were released late Sunday night.

The Griffins will play at Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday. Game details are forthcoming. The winner will move on to play Rochester next weekend at Rowan.

GMercyU (13-6) will make their seventh NCAA Tournament Appearance (1999, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017) this year representing the Atlantic East Conference. Gwynedd received one of two Pool B bids that make up the 24-team bracket. Pool B bids are for institutions that play in conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification (i.e. winning their conference tournament for example). First-year conferences such as the Atlantic East are not eligible for a Pool A or automatic qualifying.

The Diplomats (16-3), were runners-up in the Centennial Conference title game, falling in penalty strokes to Johns Hopkins. F&M earned a Pool C 'at-large' bid.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
