YORK, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered an 85-62 defeat at York Wednesday evening.
Four Griffins hit double digits in scoring led by 13 from
Matt Sommers.
Rich Dunham added 11 while
Jeff Seigafuse and
Clayton Wolfe each chipped in 10.
The Spartans opened the second half on a 14-0 run, turning a six-point lead at the break to a 56-36 lead with 14 minutes to play. York's Jason Bady netted a game-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting as the team hit for over 50% from the floor on the night.
Gwynedd battled back from a double figure deficit in the first half, getting within 39-36 off a three-pointer from Sommers in the final minute. However, the Spartans converted a three-point play to take a six-point edge into the lockerroom.
Bady netted 15 of his points in the second half, including the first seven of their scoring run to open the frame.
GMercyU turns their attention to Saturday's matchup with Cabrini to open Atlantic East play. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
