IMMACULATA, PA. -- Four different players scored as Gwynedd Mercy won their Atlantic East Conference opener, 4-0, at Immaculata Saturday afternoon.
Shannon Carroll assisted on two of the goals scored on the day.
Michaela Swenk tallied in the first half before scores from
Erika Cimino,
Allison Campbell, and
Lauren Jani in the second helped open up a sizable advantage.
The Griffins fired off a season-high 33 shots, keeping Immaculata goalie Jackie Victor busy, as she finished with 12 saves. Gwynedd keeper
Sarah Crane saw one shot and made one save.
With 18:40 remaining in the first, Swenk put in her second on the year from an assist from
Kathryn Lehman.
Cimino got in on the scoring with her first of the year at the 20:55 mark of the second. Just over four minutes later, Campbell made it 3-0 on a goal from Carroll off a corner. Carroll fed Jani four minutes after that to make it a four-goal lead. For Campbell and Jani, the scores were their second on the year, respectively.
Gwynedd Mercy (5-3, 1-0 Atlantic East) resume action on Wednesday when they welcome Cabrini in an Atlantic East clash starting at 7 p.m.
