GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy was potent on both ends of the field in their 5-0 Atlantic East Conference victory over Cabrini Wednesday night.
Five different Griffins scored while the defense did not allow a single shot recorded in claiming their third win in a row.
Kathryn Lehman,
Lauren Jani,
Alyssa Tomsic,
Shannon Carroll, and
Julia McKenzie all tallied for GMercyU. Jani also added an assist for a three-point evening, a season high.
On a penalty corner in the first half, Jani swept a pass to the far post where Lehman knocked it home for her third score on the season and a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
Kaitlyn Lutz set up Jani with 5:25 left in the half for the rookie's third tally and to give Gwynedd a 2-0 lead at the break.
Tomsic scored on a corner in the second before Carroll got in on the party and McKenzie's late goal, with an assist from
Tori Sherwood, helped cap the offense.
Gwynedd totaled 14 shots and 15 corners. They kept Cabrini goalie Devon Scharf busy, as the keeper made seven saves. Crane etched her third shutout on the season.
The Griffins welcome Wesley here on Saturday on Senior Day as well as the Atlantic East Conference Game of the Week. Push back is a 3 p.m. Prior to the contest, the team will take a moment to honor the team's seniors and their families.
